Rosabel Martin-Ross

Rosabel "Rawdah" Martin-Ross is a PhD student in Arabic and Islamic studies at Georgetown University in Washington D.C. Originally from the UK, she graduated with a first class honors degree from the University of Cambridge where she wrote her dissertation under the direction of Tim Winter.

Rawdah has also pursued Arabic studies abroad, completing the six levels of the Arabic dawra at the Abu Nour institute in Damascus, and studying advanced grammar and rhetoric with teachers in Cairo. She received her ijaza in tajwid from Ustadha Arwa Khallad in Amman with a full sanad. She is currently studying tasawwuf under the tutelage of Shaykh Hisham Kabbani, as well as pursuing studies in tafsir, Hanafi fiqh and kalam under the guidance of scholars.

In the future Rawdah hopes to work with manuscripts and edit texts. She has a keen interest in the Ottoman intellectual tradition and is excited to explore the unchartered territory of Istanbul manuscript libraries. Rosabel lives in Washington D.C. with her husband.
