Ustadh Abass Darab serves as a Quranic Arabic Instructor and Lecturer with Fawakih. Since senior year of high school, Ustadh Abass began giving khutbah at the Mustafa Center under the guidance and training of Imam Zia. Afterwards he spent three years at Zaytuna College where he pursued a bachelor of liberal arts degree in Islamic Law and Theology with a heavy emphasis on the Arabic language. He spent a summer in Tarim, Yemen, graduating from the Dowra program under the tutelage of Habib Umar bin Hafiz. He also traveled to Jordan and spent some time in the suhba of Shaykh Nuh Keller, as well as to Mauritania in the presence of Murabit al-Haj (may Allah preserve him). He studied the tasawwuf section of the Maliki text al-Murshid al-Mu'in by Ibn Ashir with the great scholar Murabit Haddameen. Afterwards he spent about a year in South Africa studying and teaching Arabic at the Madina Institute in Cape Town under the tutelage of Shaykh Muhammad al-Ninowy. While in South African, he delivered sermons and led youth workshops with the Living Faith Organization. In 2015, he spent 4 months teaching Arabic in the Madina institute in Atlanta, Georgia, while specializing in the field of Aqeedah under Shaykh al-Ninowy. Ustadh Abass currently resides in the DC-MD-VA area and is involved in various local organizations.
