Shaykh Tewfik Choukri is a scholar specializing in Shari'ah. After memorizing the entire Quran, he spent 8 years of intensive study in Syria mastering such sciences as Aqeedah, Ulum al-Quran including ijazaa in the 7 Qiraat (recitations), Hadeeth, Fiqh, Comparitive Fiqh, Usul al-Fiqh, Fiqh as-Seerah, Inheritance, Ulum al-Lugha (Arabic Linguistics), Mantiq (Logic), Tarbiyyah, and Tasawwuf. He holds ijaazas in many of these and other disciplines.
For the past several years Shaykh Tewfik has been the Scholars-in-Residence at the Legacy Institute in Indianapolis teaching a number of Islamic subjects to adult students. He also teaches at the MTI Full-time Islamic school at Al-Ilm Weekend school. He resides in Fishers, Indiana with this wife and three children. |

Sh. Abdullah Idris Ali, public speaker and fund-raiser, served as ISNA President from 1992-1997. He co-organized the Canadian Islamic Banking Conferences for 1996 and 1997. Sh. Ali serves as a member on the Board of Trustees for the Islamic Teaching Center (ITC) and North American Islamic Trust. He is currently the Director of Universal Foundation Inc., an organization that accredits Islamic schools in cooperation with National non public schools accreditation system.He is also a founding member of IBERR ( intl. board of educational research and resources ) along with Yusuf Islam.

Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York City, Ustadh Taha bin Hasan Abdul- Basser started learning elementary Arabic and usul al-din at 5 years of age, under his father, Hasan Abdul-Basser, who had reverted to Islam at the age of 16, on the advice of his mentor, al-Hajj Malik (aka Malcolm X).
Having attended public and then private schools in New York City, Ustadh Taha returned to his personal study of Arabic with renewed vigor at the age of 16 and began to engage more deeply with works that he came across in his fathers personal library--such as Maulana Abdullah Yusuf Alis translation of and commentary on the Quran and Maulana Abdul-Hamid Siddiquis learned translation of Sahih Muslim. |
